and is especially convenient for storage and transport
• Painted pilot head included
• Motor mount for electric power included
• Removable top hatch for easy access to electronics
• Pre-hinged ailerons and rudder
• Control horns installed
• Painted fiberglass cowl and wheel pants
• All necessary hardware included

Overview:

Yet another great looker from Hangar 9. This Super Scale De Night Special is just looking for a race. During the 1950s and 60s, Bart DeNight’s one-of-a-kind Formula 1 speedster was a force to be reckoned with on the full-scale air racing circuit. Hangar 9 has wonderfully captured the look and feel of the DeNight Special with this exciting sport-scale ARF.

Designed to accept a wide range of glow and electric powerplants, the DeNight Special ARF will give you all the speed and thrills you would expect of a scale-looking air racer without any of the tricky flight characteristics. Assembly takes just a few evenings and most of the details, such as the authentic trim scheme and painted pilot figure, are already added for you.

It also comes with a 48 page instruction / construction manual illustrated with over 200 photographs, to help you produce a really stunning 1950's Racer in a very short time. But the real plus points are that it is differs from the main stream manufactures ARTF's; it's a great looker; it assembles reasonably easy and it can be transported in the back of the average car fully assembled and ready to stun the crowd!

Summary - Aaron Ham / Fly RC April 2010

The New DeNight Special from Hangar 9 and Horizon Hobby is as easy to fly as it is to assemble. Gone are the days of a 3-month winter build. In just 3 nights I was ready for those magic words "Gentlemen, you have a race."

 Also on the Horizon -

"Inspired by free-flight models from the Big Band Era, the Hangar 9 Toledo Special is a unique blend of 1940's styling and smooth-flying sport performance that makes for a swinging' good time at the flying field. Sport aerobatics or simply boring holes in the sky, the Toledo Special's forgiving flight characteristics let you enjoy both without stressing out. Assembly is a breeze and you have the option of using either glow or electric power and all the necessary hardware for both is included."

GreatPlanes Z-526 Zlin Akrobat - ARTF

If you are looking for an alternative to the popular Acrowot and for something that little bit different, then search no further. Based on the Zlin Z526A that’s been popular since the 60’s and 70’s, the Great Planes Z-526 Zlin Akrobat .46-.70 GP/EP ARF model is a distinctive departure from the many CAPs, Extras and Edges currently found at the flying field. The Zlin is similar in looks and performance to the Super Chipmunk, with a sleek profile and the capability for thrilling aerobatics – equally achievable with a 2-stroke or 4-stroke engine or an outrunner brushless motor. The sheeted foam core wing can be built in one or two pieces and the airfoiled tail surfaces are strong and lightweight. With its low parts count and extensive preassembly, the Zlin can be flight-ready in just a few hours. The Great Planes Akrobat features a high-visibility, scale MonoKote trim scheme, with decals included for German registration or U.S. “N” numbers.

  • ElectriFly’s RimFire 42-60-480kV outrunner brushless motor delivers plenty of power for sport flight and aerobatics.
  • An engine mount is included for installing a 4-stroke or 2-stroke glow engine for added realism and exceptional performance.
  • The canopy doubles as an easy-access hatch for the battery compartment; magnets and a latch provide extra security.
  • Two sets of decals lets modelers identify their Zlin with either German registration or U.S. “N” numbers.
